A drunken driver speeding up to nearly 100 miles per hour on Bluemound Road early Saturday slammed into a pole, splitting the vehicle in two, Town of Brookfield police say.
The driver — a 23-year-old Brookfield man — was arrested and released to a responsible party, after being taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital for a blood draw, police told Patch on Saturday.
According to Town of Brookfield police:
At 2:20 a.m. Saturday, a patrol officer saw a car speeding at nearly 100mph on eastbound Bluemound Road.
The officer prepared to make a traffic stop but the speeding vehicle crashed into a pole east of Calhoun Road and west of Thomas Lane, roughly in front of the Hooters restaurant, police said.
More details were not available Saturday. Patch media partner Fox6now.com has video from the crash scene, from which the attached still images were taken.
