The Brookfield Central girls' golf team placed ninth and Brookfield East finished 12th in the WIAA State Division 1 State Tournament this week at Cherokee Country Club in Madison.
The Homestead girls' team won the state championship for the fourth time with a score of 671. Second was Kettle Moraine with 682 total strokes. Brookfield Central finished with 739 and Brookfield East, 775.
The WIAA website details how each player performed at state, with Grace Dunne leading the Brookfield Central team and Sierah Gurske topping Brookfield East.
To qualify for state, Brookfield Central and East finished first and second respectively at the sectionals at Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls. Central senior Christine Tang earned top individual honors there with a score of 78.
Brookfield Central has competed at state 10 times in the past 11 years.
Central's golfers are Christine Tang, Grace Dunn, Taylor Moon, Amanda Riesner and K. Holm A. Borowski. East's golfers are Nina Galang, Sierah Gurske, Katie Hartman, Annie Montross and Nora Whetter.
