Eat Up: National Deviled Eggs Day

With the holiday season right around the corner, why not kick off the party season with a celebration of this delicious hors d'oeuvres.

While it's origins remain uncertain, one thing is clear: Nov. 2 celebrates the delicious deviled egg.

National Deviled Eggs Day comes at a perfect time with the holidays — and appetizer season — just around the corner.

The typical recipe involves boiling eggs, halving the eggs and mixing the yolks with mayonnaise and spices before refilling the whites, as explained in this recipe on SimplyRecipes.com.

But you can always shake things up with Spicy Southwestern Deviled Eggs on MyRecipes.com, or this list of 10 "Deviled Eggs Gone Wild," on endlesssimmer.com, which includes ideas such as the addition of bacon, lobster or done dessert style.

What's your favorite way to make deviled eggs? Tell us in the comments.
