Elmbrook Superintendent Search Draws 50 Applications

Two-thirds of the applicants are from out of state; the School Board will begin to whittle field during five-hour closed meeting Feb. 1.

Fifty people have applied for the Elmbrook School District superintendent position, with two-thirds located out of state, a board member said Tuesday.

Board member Meg Wartman updated the board with the latest on the search for a successor to Matt Gibson, who is retiring in June after 17 years as Elmbrook's schools chief.

Ray & Associates, an Iowa search firm hired to help find Gibson's successor, had contact with 200 potential candidates — some of whom Ray approached and some who approached Ray.

Of those 200 contacts, 50 filed completed applications, Wartman said. Of the 50, 15 are from Wisconsin and 35 from out of state.

The School Board will begin whittling the field to during a five-hour closed session board meeting with Ray officials, Wartman said.
