Falls Man Charged For Selling Stolen Razor Blades to Raise Drug Money
Suspect stole nearly $2,000 worth of razor blades from Pick 'n Save locations in Brookfield and sold the blades to a vendor at Seven Mile Fair.
A Menomonee Falls man is facing charges after police "cut" his razor blade stealing spree short.
Jason R. Powell, 37, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with four counts of theft for stealing razor blades from two Pick ‘n Save locations along Capitol Drive in Brookfield during the months of April and June.
If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison and $40,000 in fines.
Powell allegedly told officers he would steal the razors and sell them to a woman who would, in turn, resell the razors at Seven Mile Fair. Powell would use the profits from her to purchase drugs.
On April 13, Powell and another man went the Pick ‘n Save at 12735 W. Capitol Dr. in April and grabbed $500 worth of razor blades, put them in a shopping cart and fled the store. Six days later, Powell came back to the store and stole another $400 worth of razor blades.
Police were called to the store again on June 14 after Powell stole another $582 worth of blades and fled the store. The day prior to the theft, Powell had targeted the Pick ‘n Save at 17295 W. Capitol Dr. where he stole more than $500 in razor blades.
Powell was caught after he was being held in Waukesha County Jail on another charge and his probation agent was able to identify him from surveillance videos.
