Sunday evening blaze caused $93,500 in damage, largely to the garage and its contents, fire officials said.
A garage fire that spread to a house attic caused $93,500 in damage Sunday evening, fire officials said.
Crews were able to control the fire at 1230 Indianwood Dr. within 15 minutes of the 6:20 p.m. fire call. The cause of the fire, which started in the garage, is unknown but is not suspicious, Fire Chief Charlie Myers said Monday.
The fire, which was blazing strong when the first crews arrived, caused major damaged to the garage and its contents, with minor damage to the attic, according to a news release from Deputy Fire Chief William L. Selzer.
Assisting at the fire scene were crews from the Town of Brookfield, Village of Elm Grove and Cities of West Allis, New Berlin and Pewaukee. Also, crews from the City of Wauwatosa, Town of Lisbon and Village of Menomonee Falls helped take care of other Brookfield fire and EMS calls.
The homeowners' dog initially was missing but was later found, officials said.
Fire officials reminded the public to change the batteries in their smoke alarms, if they didn't do it in conjunction with daylight-savings time.
