This restaurant franchisor opened its first location in 1997 in the Schenk Atwood neighborhood in Madison and has since implemented a variety of eco-friendly devices in all eight of its current locations. From ovens that turn off when not in use to cars that run on vegetable oil, the restaurant management has taken steps to conserve energy.

Opening the restaurant's menu, guests will find a wide variety of tasty food choices with specialty pizzas at the top of the list. The pizza pies are offered at 10, 14, and 16-inch sizes, along with a pocket-size pizzas such as Stromboli and Calzone. The Cardiac Arrest pizza is heavy on meat with toppings such as crumbled bacon, diced Boar's Head ham, sausage, and extra house blend cheese topped with the restaurant's classic Italian sauce.

Glass Nickel also offers soups, salads, appetizers, fish and shrimp, chicken and wings, pasta dishes and a variety of hot and cold subs. A few of the pasta menu entrees include Chicken Alfredo, meat lasagna and stuffed shells.
