Hosted by Behling-Kutchera American Legion Post 296, a Memorial Day ceremony was held Monday morning at Oak Hill Cemetery in Brookfield.

The Smoky Hollow Muzzle Loaders, donned in period clothing, were there, as were the 1812 Daughters, marking the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.

Cemetery neighbor Doris Moore laid a wreath at the grave of Revolutionary War veteran Nathan Hatch. Her late husband Amory Moore voluntarily cared for the cemetery grounds and ensured all soldiers buried there had proper markers.

Local historian Stephen Hauser spoke and John Rosenberg played Taps on his bugle.
