Target Construction Site Burglarized

The large site on Bluemound Road was hit again with copper and materials theft.

Despite increased patrols by police and private security, someone burglarized the large Target store construction site, stealing copper and equipment Dec. 30.

A superintendent for Ryan Cos., the Minneapolis-based company developing the site, called police Friday morning to report the site had been burglarized sometime after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police reports say.

The burglar or burglars managed to cut an opening into the southeast corner of the Target building β€” the corner furthest away from homes and Bluemound Road. Once inside someone used a Skyjacker lift to steal $3,000 in copper tubing, as well as ten 50-foot commercial grade extension cords worth $500.

The 140,000-square-foot Target is the anchor of the Underwood Crossing center approved at 12821 W. Bluemound Rd. Ryan Cos. recently announced .

The construction site was who stole copper and other tools and supplies, as police increased patrols and worked to lift fingerprints from burglarized construction vehicles.
