Woman Fends Off Three Thugs
Victim able to get in her vehicle and lock the door. Men flee on foot toward Brookfield Academy.

A woman was accosted in a Brookfield parking lot last Thursday afternoon.
Three perpetrators, according to police, attempted to get into a woman's car with her in the parking lot of the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, 19805 W. Capitol Drive, at 5:30 p.m.
The perpetrators' intentions are unknown. The woman was able to get in her vehicle and lock the door, police said.
The men fled toward Brookfield Academy on foot, according to the victim.
"We set up perimeters and got a canine out there, but weren't able to come up with any suspects," Adlam said.

I am the woman who was attacked and for you to say I was unharmed is wrong and hurtful! If having hand print bruises on my arms and bruising on my back where I was crushed between my car frame and my door is unharmed then I guess I was. No one spoke to me and you certainly did not get your facts all the way straight. Thanks for downplaying what happened to me. This is an example of horrible journalism and you should be ashamed!

Also be aware that I offered them my brand new phone, car keys and purse and all they wanted was to force me in the car with all of them! They were not trying to purse snatch, they had other intentions whether that was to harm me or try to have me empty my back account I do not know but a robbery was not what they were looking for. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT next time before you print!

You did right to resist. I imagine the bruises will fade long before the trauma of the assault does. It's also interesting to learn what the police consider to be 'unhurt'. Did you need a broken bone or a bullet wound to qualify?
I hope these jerks are apprehended.

Amy, I am sorry to read about what happened to you. My wife encountered something very similar many years ago. It was quite traumatic for her as well.
While I understand your need to set the record straight, the details and quote came from a police Captain, and at first blush would appear to be as accurate as his statement.
Unless the police shared your name with the Patch reporter, there would be no way for you to express your version of what happened.
Again, I can empathize with your situation, but this is a case of "shooting the messenger."

Thank you for your empathy but I do not need your criticism or scolding. If you were in my shoes and read that "you were unhurt", while I can look down and still see the bruising, you would be upset as well. Please try to understand my feelings and how a downplayed account of what happened would make me feel. I have been in contact with the Patch and they will be fixing the statement and they were understanding of my frustration. I would ask that you "DontTreadOnMeEither" would please do the same.

Thank you for your thoughts. I do have to say that the police were absolutely AMAZING with their response and help to me. I didn't have to go to the hospital so I think that was part of the indicator. They have already offered me counseling support if I need it and have been great. I hope the jerks are apprehended as well!
