The second annual WAUK with WINC 5k walk/run is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29. The goal of the event is to bring about awareness and support for the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Field Station and the Wildlife in Need Center as they work together to connect people, nature and wildlife in southeastern Wisconsin.

Runners and walkers will enjoy the rustic Glacial Drumlin State Trail. The starting location of the 5k walk/run, 18 West (formerly Saxe’s Restaurant), is located 1/2 mile west of the intersection of Highway 18 and State Highway 83. Free parking will be available at 18 West. The route will take participants west along the trail and will finish at the Field Station just short of Waterville Road. Runners will begin the route at 9:30 a.m. with “Waukers” to proceed shortly after the runners have left the starting line. A free shuttle bus back to Saxe's parking lot will run every 20-30 minutes. Participants have the option of returning on foot back along the trail or taking the shuttle. Strollers and dogs (on-leash) are welcome as well.
