Heading East? Think Again.

With an estimated 1,000 flights already canceled, and about 1 in 4 Americans expected to realize some impact from Hurricane Irene, here's a quick run down of airlines flying out of Mitchell International Airport.

It might not be the biggest hurricane to hit the U.S., but Irene is certainly setting up a worst-case scenario, with an expected landfall near or in New York City on Sunday morning.

In the meantime, flights are already being canceled in anticipation, so if you are like the vast majority of air travelers in the area, you will be trying to head out of town from Mitchell International Airport.

As they always say, it's best to contact your airline, and not the airport, so here's a quick guide to the airlines flying out of Mitchell, and links to their flight status page. Good luck and safe flying!

@Patriot....I heard Obama is really pissed because he had to cancel his Sunday morning Tee Time. As a jobs creation spending project he is proposing a golf course under roof.

@Craig...The President has just confirmed that the, August 25th, DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault." The President further announced that the Secret Service and Maxine Waters continue an investigation into the quake's suspicious ties to the Tea Party. However, conservatives have confirmed that it was caused by the founding fathers rolling over in their graves.

@Jay Sykes...LOL - Did you come up with that one yourself?
