Military Veteran Benefits Explained

The American Legion Post 449 in Brookfield is co-hosting a free program to explain potential nursing home aid for veterans and their spouses.

Veterans and their families are invited to a free program May 19 to learn about potential financial assistance for nursing home, assisted living and home care costs.

The program will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. May 19 at the American Legion Post 449, 3245 N. 124th St. in Brookfield.

Sponsored by the Legion Post 449, the Hart Park Square Senior Community in Wauwatosa and the Milwaukee County Department of Veterans Affairs, the meeting will explain the Aid & Attendance benefit available to veterans and surviving spouses of veterans who served during war time.

Jim Duff, director of veteran affairs for Milwaukee County, will explain the benefit, the criteria and application. 

Organizers are asking that attendees register by May 16 by calling Hart Park Square at 414-476-8787.
