Ryan Braun, SURG Hosting Benefit for Children at Froedtert in Brookfield

Milwaukee Brewer Ryan Braun has already partnered with the SURG Restaurant Group on two restaurants, which includes 8-Twelve MVP Bar and Grill in Brookfield, and will now be working together to launch a fund created to help area children in times of crisis at Froedtert Hospital.

The SURG Restaurant Group announced an inaugural benefit planned for May 22 at 8-Twelve MVP Bar and Grill, 17800 W. Bluemound Road. 

Braun will be at the event and has donated items to be given away as prizes. Money raised will benefit the SURG Restaurant Group Fund for Children, which is a partnership between the business and The Froedtert Hospital Foundation.

“To be a part of such a great cause with the goal to help try and change the lives of our youth in a positive light (is) an honor and a privilege,” Braun said in a news release. “I encourage everyone to try and help us embrace this important issue so we can make a difference in our community.” Grants from the fund will be used for the purchase of toys, videos, games and other needs for children in emergency rooms or waiting rooms at Froedtert. The fund also may be used to support the education of staff working with children at the hospital, according to the release.

Tickets for the event are $150 per person and include food stations and beverages. Tickets will be available through EventBrite at http://surgbenefitsfroedtert. eventbrite.com.

8-twelve MVP Bar & Grill, the partnership between Brewers left-fielder Ryan Braun and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, opened last summer. The restaurant's name was based off the MVPs' jersey numbers (Braun’s eight and Rodgers’ 12).
