Skill, Not Luck Propel Kotrly, Schweinert in Blarney Run

Local runners finished strong in the weekend Blarney Run in Wauwatosa.

Brookfield runner Marek Kotrly took third in the weekend 5K Blarney Run in Wauwatosa, with Jennifer Schweinert finishing first in the women's heet.

According to the race results reported in Tom Held's Off the Couch blog on JSOnline, Kotrly, 40, crossed the finish line in 17:05, behind two men half his age.

Ben Garbe, 22, of Rhinelander won the race with a time of 16:35, followed by Jon Finke, 23, of Muskego, who came in at 16:43. Ben Osborn, 38, of Brookfield, finished in 10th place at 18:59.

On the women's side, Schweinert, 44, of Brookfield, won the women's race with 21:13, followed by Corinne McFadden, 54, of Waterford, at 22:01 and Dominique Beaudin, 39, of Mukwonago at 22:06. Kristin Westrick, 43, of Elm Grove, finished in 6th place with 23:26.
