East Senior Nora Collins Wins Music Award, Recognition

Talented teen becoming a rising star in country music.

Brookfield East Senior Nora Collins has been busy this summer making a name for herself as singer, songwriter and performer.

During the Wisconsin State Fair, Collins won the state title in the Texaco Country Showdown, America’s largest country music talent search.

By doing so, she earned a spot in the Midwest Regional Final at the Menominee Casino in Keshena, WI. How well she does there will determine if she will advance to the final competition in Nashville, where she will compete for $100,000 and the coveted title, “Best New Act in Country Music.”

Shortly after winning the competition at the state fair, Collin traveled to Nashville where she played in songwriter rounds and open mics, plus writing some new songs.

She’s recently appeared on The Morning Blend, Wisconsin Public Radio's Simply Folk, and in the Journal Sentinel. She also performed at Summerfest and locally at the Fourth of July celebration.
