The Emperor's Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City

Join us at the Brookfield Public Library at 7pm on Monday, August 8th to celebrate the end of our Novel Destinations Summer Reading Program!  Lorri Croft of the Milwaukee Art Museum will share with us the exquisite artworks crafted for China's Qianlong emperor (r. 1736-96).  His reverence for nature and dedication to Buddhism, Confucian morals and scholarly pursuits are reflected in his objects, which range from brightly pigmented room screens to his splendid calligraphy.  Please contact the Adult Reference Desk at (262) 782-4140 with any questions.
