Phil Collins' Lead Guitarist to Headline Wilson Center Guitar Festival

Daryl Stuermer of the super-group Genesis and lead guitarist for Phil Collins will headline the festival coming up in a few weeks.

With just a few weeks until the Wilson Center Guitar Competition & Festival held at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, organizers have announced a number of featured artists.

Daryl Stuermer, Chris Eldridge, Julian Lage, Rene Izquierdo and Don Linke will each be showcased during the festival that runs Aug. 15-17.

  • Legendary guitarist and Wisconsinite Daryl Stuermer of the super-group Genesis and lead guitarist for Phil Collins will headline the festival with a culminating performance in the Gerlach Outdoor Theater (on the grounds of the Wilson Center) onSaturday, August 17 at 7:30 pm.  The first place winners of each genre category of the Wilson Center Guitar Competition will open the performance at 7:00 pm.  Tickets: $25 Premium Lawn & $10 Regular Lawn (chairs are not provided).
  • Chris Eldridge, the award-winning guitarist and member of the progressive bluegrass super-group Punch Brothers will performFriday, August 16 at 7:30 pm in the Harris Theater. Eldridge will share this performance with Julian Lage, hailed as "a giant in the making" by All About Jazz and the subject of an Academy Award-nominated documentary, Jules at EightTickets: $15-25.
  • Rene Izquierdo, winner of the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Competition and Professor of Classical Guitar at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will perform in the Harris Theater on Thursday, August 15 at 7:30 pm in a joint performance with Don Linke, esteemed jazz guitarist and educator at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Tickets: $10-20.
