Re-enacting Civil War Days

Living historians give a glimpse into Civil War military and civilian life at the Elmbrook Historical Society event in Brookfield.

The 17th annual Civil War Days Encampment offered a glimpse into Civil War-era military and civilian life.

The two-day event at which living historians camp overnight in tents at the Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum, 1075 Pilgrim Parkway, Brookfield, is a major fundraiser for the host, the Elmbrook Historical Society.

The event began Saturday and is open again Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children or $12 for a family.

Sunday's events include one "skirmish" at 1:30 p.m., canon firing and artillery demonstrations at 11:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and much more.
