Bluemound Road Project Phase One Complete

The City ensures construction on Bluemound Road, from Highway 100 to east of Moorland Road, is mainly complete.

A smoother ride can be found as you drive down Bluemound Road as the City reports phase one of the Bluemound Road Project is ‘substantially complete’.

Phase one includes resurfacing of Bluemound Road from Highway 100, Mayfair Road, to east of Moorland Road.

A majority, if not all of the pavement markings are done and a bulk of the traffic signals and streetlights are installed.

Additional markings not complete will be finalized in the spring.

Tim Casey, economic development coordinator in Brookfield, said a few noticeable changes were made during the construction process such as a greater distinction for travel lanes, a designated right lane marked for right turns and Milwaukee County buses and slight differences in median openings and access points.

“These clear changes in the travel lanes have enhanced Bluemound as an artery for large traffic volumes,” said Casey.

This completes the first upgrade segment for the overall comprehensive plan projected to be finished in 2013.

Casey said he didn’t get many calls from businesses expressing concern during construction and that the completion of the road will benefit the Underwood Crossing shopping complex for Target and Trader Joe’s.

The next phase will start next year and will include altering landscapes for phase one if needed and repaving east of Moorland Road to Interstate 94.

The Bluemound Road Project came with conjunction of the repaving of Interstate 94 through the City of Brookfield that happened earlier this year.
