A Gluten-Free Bite to Eat

A Gluten Free Frenzy offers diners a convenient option for healthy meals and snacks, as well as gluten-free and organic groceries.

Having difficulty deciding where to grab a bite to eat in the Brookfield and Elm Grove area? Don't know where to turn for a good sandwich, a scrumptious Italian dish or a fantastic fish fry? Every week the Brookfield Patch highlights a restaurant worth checking out. This week's pick: A Gluten Free Frenzy

Are you in a hurry but need something healthy to eat? A Gluten Free Frenzy Grocery Store, located inside a strip mall east of the intersection of Barker and Blue Mound roads, has a small cafe with a fresh bakery case so customers can get a healthy, quick bite to eat or grab some snacks.

The grocery store opened in 1999, and has one of the largest brick-and-mortar selections of all gluten-free products such as breads, cereals, cookies, breakfast/snack bars, baking ingredients and mixes, and fine coffee.

The cafe serves pizza, a variety of healthy deli-style sandwiches and beverages. The bakery case has on display daily fresh cookies, muffins and cupcakes. All of the items found on the menu are part of the grocery store's offerings and are all-natural.

Fresh coffee featuring Healthy Perks by Berres Brothers is served daily. The coffee, a gluten-free and chemical-free blend, is a Fair Trade organic and is de-caffeinated.

A change of scenery will be coming soon for the business. A proposed retail and office complex anchored by a Von Maur department store will require razing the West Point Plaza strip mall the grocery store is currently located in. To accommodate the project, the store will be leaving the plaza at the end of May. The store is currently looking at multiple locations that are close to I-94 exits.
