Azana Spa Reopening Details Announced, Memorial Planned

New purple gift cards will be released Dec. 1st, the day Azana Salon & Spa reopens following remodeling.

Azana Salon & Spa's remodeling is progressing and the spa will reopen at 8 a.m. Dec. 1, as employees prepare a special tribute inside the salon for their fallen coworkers.

The spa also will start selling on Saturday new purple gift cards, a portion of which will benefit the Azana Victims Fund, owner Tami Gemmell said in a press release Tuesday.

The fund proceeds will be distributed equally at year-end to the seven families impacted by the Oct. 21 tragedy — the families of Zina Daniel Haughton, Cary Robuck, Maelyn Lind and the three other spa employees and a customer who were shot and survived.

"We're excited to say remodeling plans are on schedule and Dec. 1st is a go for re-opening," Gemmell said. "We hope people will drop by that day to see the newly-renovated salon and make a point to purchase Purple Gift Cards for that special someone in their lives, knowing that a portion of their gift will help the victims' families."

Before the spa reopens, the employees will have a change to view the renovations in privacy; the salon was extensively damaged after Haughton's estranged husband Radcliffe smarted a small fire that set off the building sprinkling system.

Gemmell again thanked the community for its support for the victims' families and the salon family.

"The money raised at recent events, like 8-twelve and Cut It Out, show just how big of a heart this community has," she said. "We hope everyone will continue to show their support and keep our colleagues' children and families in their prayers."

Before the spa reopens Dec. 1, customers can book appointments and purchase gift cards by calling 262.784.4700 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments can also be booked and gift certificates can be purchased and printed online at www.azanaspa.com.

Donations to the Azana Victims Fund can still be made at any Associated Bank.   The number to call with questions is (262) 784-3370.
