Brookfield Nonprofit Proposes Doggy Daycare in Falls

JRs Pups-N-Stuff, a rescue organization, is looking to provide boarding, grooming, vetting, and daycare services in Menomonee Falls.

The owner of a Brookfield-based nonprofit dog rescue organization is looking to open a "doggie daycare" in Menomonee Falls.

JRs Pups-N-Stuff Inc. has submitted a proposal to the village to open a dog daycare, boarding, grooming, and low-cost vetting service for canine companions. According to a proposal submitted to the village, Pups-N-Stuff and the Ruff Hut would occupy the same building at N83W13250 Leon Rd.

Since Pups-N-Stuff was founded, the nonprofit has successfully placed over 1,800 animals into homes. The business operations are sustained through the efforts of volunteers and paid staff.

Pups-N-Stuff would provide low-cost vetting services like spaying and neutering dogs, and administering medications for qualified area rescue groups before the animals head for adoption. The business would also like to team up with local high schools and organizations to provide an educational element for youth.

The other portion of the business would include dog daycare, grooming, and boarding services. Training classes would also be offered on select evenings and weekends.

“This will be the first location of a potential franchise offering a variety of needed services and education,” stated the application to the village. “The next step would be to make these services available in more areas of the city.”

In the proposal, business hours would run from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday for daycare services. Both full- and part-time care would be provided. Pick-up and drop-off times for daycare and boarding would be:

  • 6 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. drop-off, and 11:30 to noon pick-ups on Saturday and Sunday.

Grooming services would also be available to the general public by appointment. The plans also call for some minor remodeling work to the existing building at the Leon Road address.

The business would start with volunteers and roughly 12 employees initially with an expansion to 25. Pup-N-Stuff will seek approvals from Plan Commission and the Village Board in the coming months for the proposal.
