Planned Cafe Will No Longer Fill Former Caribou

The application for the new business was withdrawn, with the applicant citing landlord/tenant issues.

Plans to launch a new coffee and yogurt shop in a former Caribou Coffee location in Brookfield were canceled after the applicant ran into tenant-landlord issues.

Tom Richter was slated to appear before the Plan Commission on Monday to request the installation of a drive-through window at the former Caribou Coffee for a new business, to be called "The Café." The business was described as a coffee and yogurt shop with bakery and sandwiches.

"I withdrew because of issues between landlord and tenant at this point," Richter said.

"We do have another party that's very interested (in opening the business)," he said, adding that they've been looking at a possible location in Waukesha — though he wouldn't name any more specifics.
