Winning Florist: Gregory and Company Galleria Florist

Gregory and Company Galleria Florist on Bluemound Road wins Patch's contest for best local florist.

Gorgeous designs and competitive prices — that's how one reader described Gregory and Company Galleria Florist for Brookfield's best local florist.

Or as that business says on its website, "Designer Floral to fit Any Budget."

With a five-star rating in Patch's business directory and praise on Brookfield Patch's Facebook page, Gregory and Company Galleria Florist earned the award in Patch's latest Readers' Choice contest.

This week we did things a little different and rather than have people vote in a poll, we asked people to click how many stars their favorite florist deserves on the florists' Patch business directory listings. (Did you know Patch has a searchable listing with information for every business in the city?)

gave five stars, writing:

"We heard about this florist before homecoming, returned for prom and other dances. Best pics of flowers in our facebook photos, and everyone wanted to know WHERE we got the gorgeous design. We used to go to the grocery store, but they were overwhelmed with demand. The price was more competitve at Gregory, and the flowers were unbelievable."

There also were comments here or on Facebook in support of ,  floral department and two Elm Grove florists, Welke's House of Roses and Sendik's.

Gregory and Company is located at 18900 W. Bluemound Rd. in the Galleria West shopping center behind , and is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday. It has a website and Facebook page.

Congrats to Gregory and Company, who will receive an award certificate from Patch, and look for our next Readers' Choice next week — best breakfast / brunch in Brookfield.

Over the past several years, there have been several youth from throughout the world who haveRead More attended high school for one academic year in the Elmbrook School District through the Rotary youth exchange program. It is a tremendous opportunity for growth by the young adult, as well as the host family! If you have even the slightest bit of interest, I'd encourage you to contact Bill Petterson from the Elmbrook Rotary. It's a long-standing international program with many checks and balances so the experience is beneficial for all concerned.

We hosted a high school girl from Thailand three years ago and we continue that friendship with herRead More and her family. Not only do you, as a host family give a young person from another country a better understanding of America and Americans, but you learn about the perspectives and viewpoints of people from a totally different culture. It opens up our world view. If you have never hosted, do it!

I believe your first 4 words. After that your credibilty dramatically falls off. The only "beatRead More down" received was by the middle & low income class of Wisconsinites. "As governor, I will sign legislation to prohibit the members of the State Legislature from voting after 10:00 at night or before 9:00 in the morning. This commonsense reform ensures the public has the opportunity to contact elected representatives about their votes on any pending legislation important to them. I have two teenagers and I tell them that nothing good happens after midnight. That's even more true in politics. The people of Wisconsin deserve to know what their elected leaders are voting on." --Scott Walker
