Winning Fish Fry: Silver Spur Followed by Historic Red Mill

Two veteran local establishments carried the day in Brookfield Patch's inaugural Readers' Choice poll.

It was a neck-and-neck battle with more lead changes than a March Madness college hoops game.

There was a dizzying last-minute race by supporters of the two veteran establishments (who obvious are also very computer savvy), with more than 2,000 votes lodged just between about 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.

Silver Spur was located for years at 19990 W. Greenfield Ave. in the Town of Brookfield before a 2008 fire prompted its move to its current location in the former Elm Grove Inn at 13275 Watertown Plank Road in Elm Grove.

Second-place finisher, The Red Mill, is also no stranger to Brookfield, in fact known as Historic Red Mill. Offering live jazz on Wednesday evenings and karoke on Tuesdays, the Red Mill touts on its menu its "Famous Friday Fish Fry."
