Woody’s Roadhouse Closes Months After Opening in Woodbury

The former Throwbacks location has closed, according to the Woody’s website.

Just months after it reopened with a new concept but some of the same themes, Woody’s Roadhouse has closed, according to neighbors and its website.

Woody’s was formerly , and under the change looked to become more of a restaurant than a bar.

The website does not say the reason why it closed.

Just an update on Groupon: I had forgotten I'd bought one and got an email today acknowledging the closing and guiding me through the refund process, which was quick and easy, so the company was very responsible and current on this issue. And I'm going to hold out hope that an independent restaurant (or even a food truck!) of the caliber and quality of the Minneapolis options eventually expands out this way. There are some decent options locally but nothing that transcends dining into an experience like the really great ones do. I'm still mourning the loss of Aperitif (the closest we had here) and after seeing (through pictures on this site) how the extraordinary murals and decor were stripped out into such a generic alternative, I just can't go back to that space, even with the rave reviews I've seen posted. Hope the Groupon info helps.

I purchased one of the Groupons and used it. We thought the food was very good but they desperately needed to bring down the temperature in the restaurant the day we were there. There was no air movement at all. I had a feeling that day that it wasn't going to succeed.

I worked there. I was out of town on vacation when it closed. This is how I am learning about the closing of the restaurant. A manager sent out an email about "unfortunate events" I replied asking what was going on. And got no response. I'm way pissed about it but not surprised. This lack of professionalism reflects the poor management of the restaurant. All 3 head chefs quit. Most servers and bartenders 50% I'd say quit before it closed. I feel bad the owner Sunny is a really nice guy and I'm sure he just got fucked in the whole thing. Servers had just pointless training before it opened. They tried to do far too much within a month. They recently changed the menu before it closed and when people would ask me what's good it was hard to make something up. It still had good food for bar food but not good enough to draw people away from even applebees. Burgers were now frozen, they took all the best things off the menu. A "steakhouse" with only 3 steaks. Come on. The restaurant is not visible, it has a horrible layout, it's far too big for any independently owned restaurant to be successful. Servers get slammed super easily because of the terrible layout. I totally agree they need a chain to survive there.

The building is cursed. It either needs a chain to pull it out or tear it down. It was promising at first but all employees quickly saw big signs of failure early on. I still have received no response from management there. And I'm not the only one. A coworker said the same thing. I've got two checks there of money I'm sure I'll never see.

Sara, im looking for some info about who the owner of woodys is. in your comment above you say his name is Sunny. could you tell me what his last name is. i was injured by the broken door on Sat July 21 and have tried several time and left several messages for the manager and no one has responded to any of my calls or mail i sent to them about my medical bills. any help would be greatly appreaciated.
