Yo Mama! Yogurt is Coming to Brookfield

The popular self-serve frozen yogurt and toppings store in Wauwatosa plans to open here in April in the Ruby Isle Shopping Center off Calhoun Road.

(Updated 2:45 p.m.) A popular hotspot in Wauwatosa, Yo Mama! frozen yogurt plans to expand to Brookfield, aiming to open in April in the Ruby Isle Shopping Center.

Owners Scott and Becky Berger, who live in Brookfield with their four children, have found a healthy local appetite for their self-serve frozen yogurt and toppings business.

The Bergers opened in the Tosa Village last June, creating a buzz and long summer lines. It remains a popular place for kids of all ages.

The Brookfield location will be at 2205 N. Calhoun Rd., in the site that formerly housed .

Yo Mama! would like to convert an existing drive-through lane that the coffee shop used into a new outdoor seating area with a fire place, said Mike Theis, Brookfield's planning administrator.

The city Plan Commission will review March 12 whether to amend city codes to allow permanent structures such as a fire pit and foundation in building setback areas, Theis said.

The opening of Yo Mama! as a new tenant in the Ruby Isle shopping center does not need city approval, and Theis said it will be a nice addition to the city.

I've been to the 'tosa location twice in the last couple of months. Spotless building, courteous staff, lots of families and great stuff to eat! I'm looking forward to the Grand Opening!
