Staples Marketing Wins Nine American Advertising Awards

Staples Marketing, LLC (www.staplesmarketing.com) recently received a total of nine ADDY awards at the 2014 American Advertising Awards Show hosted at UW-Madison’s Union South on Saturday, February 22, 2014. The American Advertising Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 50,000 entries every year through local competitions around the country. The American Advertising Awards competition aims to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising. The American Advertising Federation of Madison Awards is the only Southeastern Wisconsin point of entry to the regional and national American Advertising Awards.

Staples Marketing won a GOLD ADDY for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) CHOOSE YOUR RIDE! vehicle wrap in the category of Public Service; Non-traditional advertising. CHOOSE YOUR RIDE! is actually a vehicle where the front half of the vehicle is decorated to look like a Wisconsin State Patrol cruiser and the back half resembles a yellow taxi. Aimed at deterring drunk driving, the vehicle states that a taxi ride may cost $20, but getting a ride from the Wisconsin State Patrol may cost $1,000. The CHOOSE YOUR RIDE! vehicle travels around the state, maintaining a presence and making appearances at various events, reminding people to choose their ride wisely after drinking or suffer the consequences.

The agency also won eight SILVER ADDY awards. Three were for work with WisDOT: the “Texting Anywhere But There” television and radio commercials warning of the dangers of texting while driving and featuring LG U.S. National Texting Champion Austin Wierschke of Rhinelander, WI; and the new “Drive Sober” mobile app that, among other things, helps people find a safe ride home if they’ve had too much to drink. Staples Marketing also won two SILVER ADDYs for radio spots done on behalf of The Fireside Theatre: “Sizzlin’ 60’s Relived” and “Once Upon a Mattress”. The remaining awards were for the Curative Care Network 2012 Annual Report, the Dane County Regional Airport website redesign (www.MSNAirport.com) and the Chicago Metra “Real Expressway” outdoor advertising campaign.
