Teachers there are on strike, just in case you haven't heard. They don't like it that Rahm Emanuel, the former White House chief of staff turned Chicago mayor, wants them to use a merit system and pay more for their own healthcare benefits.
I kind of have a difficult time typing right now because I'm laughing so hard.
As I said on Fairly Conservative, this might make it more clear why Obama didn't come to campaign for Barrett during the recall this summer. The administration knew Emanuel would be facing the same issues soon.

Oh, I know. I've already had someone on the other blog say it's a set up to give Obama a chance to swoop in and save the day. But I see it as Morton's Fork. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I've rolled all the Obama options in my head and can't get past the idea this is going to get ugly.
Right now the White House has no official position on the matter.
