How is Elmbrook planning to budget?

A reader sent me a link to Elmbrook Superintendent Mark Hansen's blog. He's been visiting lawmakers in Madison. In closing, he writes:

Together, we will continue to advocate for a sustainable business model where revenues match expenditures, and one that supports the current level of programs and services that our students, parents, and community have come to expect from an Elmbrook education.

Yes, raising revenues is one way to balance a budget. But as my acquaintance points out, wouldn't it be delightful if the superintendent considered lowering costs to do the same?

It is very expensive to grow the kingdom always, but most governmental groups have an imprinted "grow or die" plan that is coming to a wallet near you very soon.

In the meantime, keep an eye on the district's talk of new administrative offices. They have spent a fortune updating the current building over the years, but that won't deter them from trying to move again.
