UPDATE: Bitter Cold Changes to Snow Friday

About a half-foot of snow is expected Friday, but temperatures will rise from today's deep freeze.

Updated 8 a.m.: Forecasted snow totals for Friday have been changed to 2 to 4 inches. Temps will be cold again Friday morning, with wind chills between zero and 5 below zero.

It's bitterly cold today — but not as cold as this week in 2009, when wind chills of 28 to 38 degrees below zero prompted Elmbrook to close schools two consecutive days.

Wind chills this morning were between 10 and 15 below zero, according to the National Weather Service. Temps will reach a high of 7 today.
