Final Phase of Capitol Drive Construction Project Begins This Week

Crews will put the finishing touches on the 5-mile stretch of roadway in Waukesha and Milwaukee counties. Delays should be limited.

Construction crews will continue work on Capitol Drive this week, but delays should be limited.

Crews began work this week on the Capitol Drive from Brookfield Road to Highway 100 in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties. The project will complete work that began last year on this 5-mile segment of roadway.

This construction season, the work consists of finishing pavement markings, signage, concrete sidewalk, retaining walls, asphalt and concrete repair, and miscellaneous storm sewer and signal work.

Capitol Drive will be open to traffic, with shoulder closures and single lane closures throughout the duration of the project. Occasional night work will limit traffic to one lane from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The contractor, Payne and Dolan, is expected to complete work by late June 2013, weather permitting.
