Knitting Classes are "Great Escape" for Moms

You’ve heard the saying “a happy mother means a happy family,” right? Well, it’s true. You fulfill multiple roles day in and day out, and that’s just within the home! In order to be a happy mother, you need time for you, even if it’s for a few minutes a day.

We help remind you to take that much needed and deserved “me time” in Patch’s weekly feature, "The Great Escape." Each week we tell you about one great place you can escape to with your spouse, your girlfriends or by yourself.

This week.... we found an activity for the crafty (or want-to-be) moms.

It's important to try a range of activities to find what helps refresh us most. Creating crafts can be a wonderful artistic outlet and a calming activity. We escaped to the knitting classes at the .

The River Boutique and Yarn is located at 18900 W. Blue Mound Road.  They offer beginning and advanced knitting classes throughout the week. Not sure if you want to commit to a class? They also offer a free 15- to 20-minute preview class on Mondays and Thursdays.

Already know how to knit, but can't seem to finish what you are working on? River Barn has classes just for that purpose! It's a great way to stay committed to scheduling time for your project. Also, you are free from the interruptions that are inevitable at home, allowing you to finally complete that scarf you started last year.

Maybe classes just don't fit into your schedule, but you still want a crafting space outside the home.  The open knitting circle may be just what you need.  Crafts and conversation are sure to be a good time.
