Last Chance: Summer Park and Rec Signup, Absentee Voting

Is your desk full of papers with too many things to remember? "Last Chance" aims to help. It will remind you of important things ending soon. Contact us if you know of an upcoming deadline you don't want people to miss!

"Last Chance" is Patch's way of breaking throughing the digital noise (or your cluttered desk and kitchen counter) and saying: "Warning! This is about to end. Put it on your front burner now!"

Some deadlines this week:

Absentee voting for May 8 gubernatorial primary:

Absentee voting in person at City Hall ends at 5 p.m. Friday. Requests to receive an absentee ballot via mail must be received by the City Clerk's office by 5 p.m. Thursday. Mailed absentee ballots must be postmarked by May 8 to be counted in the primary election. More details on the city's website.

Registering for summer park and rec:

Ok, technically, this is the first chance, not "last chance." But in this case, if you miss the first chance to sign up for all those summer programs and camps, they can fill up and you'll be shut out.

Online or in-person registration at the city's Park and Recreation office, 2000 N. Calhoun Rd., starts at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Interested in flag football? That registration doesn't start until 8 a.m. Monday, May 21.
