St. John Vianney Kicks Off Festival

The annual church festival features a pig roast and fish fry, as well as carnival rides and a chance to win a 2011 Mercedes Benz and Lincoln MKZ.

Let the church festival season begin!

One of the largest Catholic parishes around — St. John Vianney in Brookfield — kicks off its three-day annual festival at 5 p.m. today at 1755 N. Calhoun Road. 

Friday:

Lent may be over but it's still Friday in Wisconsin so of course there will be a fish fry. Choose between fried and baked from 5 to 8 p.m.

There are a plethora of other food and beverage choices, including drinks at the decorated Cabana tent

Speakeasy and Radio Radio will perform on different music stages from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

Saturday: 

There's still time to register for the 5K Run and 2-mile walk "Run for the Pig IX." Register the day of the event for $15. 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. All participants get T-shirts and there are other awards.

Children can go on an unlimited number of select carnival rides from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday for $20 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday for $15.

Win a 2011 Mercedes Benz C-Class, 2011 Lincoln MKZ or $25,000 cash: raffle tickets are available for $50 for a 1 in 2,000 chance at these big ticket items.

Feast on a pig roast from 4 to 8 p.m. as The Eddie Butts Band and Stray Voltage play separate stages from 6 to 11 p.m. 

Sunday:

Enjoy chicken dinner from noon to 6 p.m. while the children play games.

Mi-T Pipers performs at 1 p.m., and Do Wop Daddies from 3 to 7 p.m.
