The Great Escape: Let’s Dance

Being a mother is a demanding, yet rewarding job, but even we need to take some personal time off now and again.

You’ve heard the saying “a happy mother means a happy family,” right? Well, it’s true. You fulfill multiple roles day in and day out, and that’s just within the home! In order to be a happy mother, you need time for you, even if it’s for a few minutes a day.

I’m sure you already know this; however, it can be tough to find something to do and make that time to get away for a bit. I know, because I’m a mother too. We spend an awful lot of time caring for everyone around us that we sometimes forget to give ourselves a dose of tender loving care.

Picture this: Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school Saturday. The grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take tap on Wednesday evening. It’s your time. Take it.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

We’re going to help remind you to take that much needed and deserved “me time” in Patch’s weekly feature, ‘The Great Escape.’ Each week we’ll tell you about one great place you can escape to with your spouse, your girlfriends or by yourself.

This week, let’s escape with dance lessons at located at 15760 West Capitol Drive in Brookfield.

If you are like me, the last time you went dancing with your significant other was at a wedding - either your own or a friend’s. Have you ever wished you and your partner could glide along the dance floor gracefully like ballroom dancers?

Whether you can dance like the stars or you have two left feet, you can enroll in dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studios. The talented instructors at Fred Astaire can help you learn a variety of dance steps from the two step to salsa, to the waltz to the tango.

Dance lessons may be exercise disguised as fun, but that’s one more reason why it is a great escape! It’s a healthy stress reducer. Plus, it’s a great way way to reconnect with your significant other away from the house and kids. Dancing has an element of team work mixed with romance which makes it a great date night activity.

If dancing in front of others isn’t your style, they also offer private lessons. A dancing partner isn’t required to attend class, so if you want to sign up on your own or your significant other wants to master a few skills first to impress you, that can be arranged as well.
