School's out: There is no school Friday for the Elmbrook School District as winter break begins. School resumes on Monday, Jan. 2 — unless Mother Nature has other plans.

Town's bid to incorporate as a village: The Town Board may vote on next steps in its attempt to win village status. Board meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at , 645 Janacek Rd.

Hockey: Boys hockey teams, including Brookfield, Whitefish Bay, Shorewood and Nicolet square off at the Kern Center at MSOE at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Basketball: Brookfield East boys varsity basketball team travels to Menomonee Falls for a GMC rematch at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Events

Annie runs through Dec. 31: The Sunset Playhouse presents "Annie" through Dec. 31, with two casts of young performers scheduled for different runs. Tickets are available on the theater's website. See .

Ballet at the Movies: The will show "The Royal Ballet: The Nutcracker" on the big screen at 6:30 p.m. Monday, and "The Nutcracker — Bolshoi Ballet Live" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

Read it to beat it: students from will participate in a Guinness World Record attempt from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. On Tuesday 5,000 students will gather at the arena to read with Ryan Grant and Craig Counsell for 30 minutes to break the current world record of 4,222 students held in Nigeria.

Bobby Way & OC Woods open jam: will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Cali's Grille Room in the , 1005 S. Moorland Rd.
