Week Ahead: Trees of Hope, Tax Levy Approvals, Superintendent Search Forums

  • Relocating Elmbrook administrative offices: Should Elmbrook move its district offices into Hillside Elementary after it closes? Or should it stay where it is and fix water leaks? The School Board's Finance and Operations Committee will discuss relocation issues at its 4:15 p.m. Monday meeting at the district offices, 13780 Hope St. Employee retirement benefits also are on the agenda.
  • Your City or Town property tax bill: Elected officials in the City and Town of Brookfield will be holding public hearings and voting Tuesday evening on their proposed 2012 municipal government budgets. The city's proposed property tax rate is $5.45 per $1,000 of assessed property value; the town's proposed rate is $3.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. Has your property's assessment changed? The Town's public hearing starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday at , 645 Janacek Rd. The City's starts at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at , 2000 N. Calhoun Rd.
  • Help choose the next Elmbrook superintendent: The School Board is inviting the public to attend two forums to offer input on what the board should seek in its next superintendent. The board will use the input to help recruit candidates. The forums are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the School Board room, 13780 Hope St. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brookfield East High School cafeteria, 3305 North Lilly Rd.

  • Summer school 2012 offerings: Interested in what classes Elmbrook will offer next summer? Summer school will be discussed by the School Board's Curriculum Planning Committee at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the Board Curriculum Committee immediately thereafter or at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at district offices, 13780 Hope St.
  • Sensenbrenner Town Hall meeting: U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner will host a Town Hall meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday at the , 2100 N. Calhoun Rd.

  • Brookfield Christian School Open House: Families can tour from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at 14155 W. Burleigh Rd.
  • Book signing: Author Philip Chard will sign copies of Nature's Way at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the , 1900 N. Calhoun Rd.
  • Golden Harvest Thanksgiving Dinner: will host the Golden Harvest Thanksgiving Dinner at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the school, 16900 W. Gebhardt Rd.
  • "The Nerd" playing at Brookfield Academy: The 's Upper School fall play "The Nerd" will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Constitution Hall, 3466 N. Brookfield Rd.Β 
  • BEHS Turkey Trot Fun Run: A 5K run will benefit 's athletic department. Run starts at 9 a.m. at , North Avenue and Pilgrim Road.
  • Trees of Hope WI: , 1200 S. Moorland Rd. will be the site of a packed weekend of events to benefit Leukemia-Lymphoma patients and research. Stroll and enjoy, bid or buy more than 20 beautifully themed decorated holiday trees and silent auction items including Packers and other sports memorabilia. Holiday music will be performed by students and scouts, barbershop quartets and local musicians such as country singer Gary Cross.
