Elmbrook property tax levy: District residents will cast an advisory vote on the school property tax levy for the 2011-12 school year. The Elmbrook School Board will present its annual budget at 6 p.m. Monday, followed by the annual meeting at 7 p.m. It will be held at the district administrative offices, 13780 Hope St.

Special education parent meeting: Parents are invited to discuss the implementation of high school block scheduling with special education instruction at a 7:30 a.m. meeting Wednesday at the district offices, 13780 Hope St.

City 2012 budget review: The Common Council's Finance Committee will start reviewing the proposed 2012 city budget at 5 p.m. Thursday at , 2000 N. Calhoun Rd.

School closure community meeting: Want to weigh in on the proposed closure of Hillside Elementary School? The Elmbrook School Board will explain its recommendation at the first of two community information meetings. The first will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at cafeteria, 3305 Lilly Rd. The second will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at , 16900 Gebhardt Rd.

Varsity girls tennis : Brookfield East girls tennis hosts Brookfield Central, Divine Savior Holy Angels, Hamilton, Menomonee Falls, Wauwatosa East and West Allis in the two-day tournament, at 2 p.m. Wednesday and 4 p.m. Thursday.

Homecoming, High School: Brookfield Central varsity football hosts West Allis Central at 7 p.m. Friday.

Events

Skin matters — sun awareness: The Brookfield Public Library will host a by local dermatologists and reconstructive surgeons. The talk is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the , 1900 N. Calhoun Road.. Registration is required.

Special education parent information: Sally Flaschberger, a special education advocate with Disability Rights Wisconsin, will educate parents on at 9:30 a.m. at the , 1900 N. Calhoun Rd.

Mothers Night Out: The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Western Racquet Club, 1800 Highland Dr., Elm Grove.

16th Annual Chili-Feed: The community can get a $5 All You Can Eat dinner starting at 5 p.m. Friday before the homecoming football game, 16900 Gebhardt Rd. The chili event benefits the Brookfield Central band program and will include a special performing by the Lancer marching band.  

The dance will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the school gym, 1500 Pilgrim Parkway, Elm Grove.

Brookfield Farmers Market: The  is held from 7:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday through October, attracting about 4,000 people weekly. It's held in the Civic Plaza next to City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road.

Town Fire Department Open House: Children and adults can tour the Town Fire Department at a from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 645 N. Janacek Rd. A Flight For Life helicopter will be on hand at 11 a.m. There also will be free blood pressure screenings.

Solar Energy tour: will at 13001 W. North Ave. in Brookfield as part of a Midwest Renewable Energy Association tour of 10 sites demonstrating sustainable practices.

Brookfield Central's Homecoming Dance: will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday in the high school's gym.

Laura Ingalls Wilder: The Elmbrook Historical Society will present from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum, 1075 Pilgrim Parkway, Brookfield.
