Starlight Serenade Boy Scout Gala 2013

Waukesha, Wisconsin - The Boy Scouts of America will be
holding its ninth annual Starlight Serenade on the evening of Friday, Nov. 8,
2013. It's a celebration of leadership and community service. The featured
speaker is Dirk Debbink of Oconomowoc. Debbink is a retired vice admiral in the
United States Navy and former chief of the Navy Reserve. He's also a recipient
of the Boy Scout's Distinguished Eagle Award. This enjoyable black-tie gala
will be held at the Westmoor Country Club. Over the years the gala has raised
nearly $350,000 to support youth development programs of the Potawatomi Area
Council of the Boy Scouts.



 



Enjoy an evening of cocktails, hors d'oeurves, dinner,
silent auction and live music provided by the band Pavanne, which features
renowned local singer Tom Anthony. Marine Bank returns as Presenting Eagle
Sponsor of this gala, which begins at 6 p.m.

More than 7,300 local youth are served by the Potawatomi
Area Council in Waukesha County and parts of Dodge, Jefferson, Walworth, and
Washington Counties.  Its focus of "cultivating future leaders"
is accomplished by preparing young people to make ethical choices over their
lifetimes and instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Gala funds youth development programs, such as:



 



*    Scoutreach provides funding for low
income youth to participate in the Scouting program.



*    Youth Protection Training and Leader
Development gives adult



leaders the knowledge and tools they need to carryout the
Scouting program at an optimum level and provide a safe atmosphere for our
youth members.



*    Camp Long Lake provides year-round
camping opportunities for youth and families.



*    Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting,
Venturing, Learning for Life & Exploring.
