At 7:21 p.m. Sunday a Brookfield police officer was travelling northbound behind Weisensel on North 124th Street near West Capitol Drive when Weisensel slammed on his brakes to avoid going through a red light, causing the officer to slam on his brakes as well. While at the light the officer ran Weisensel’s license plate and discovered he had six drunk driving convictions and a suspended registration due to an emissions violation.

The officer pulled Weisensel over and smelled alcohol on his breath. Weisensel said he had two beers in the past two hours, but he failed field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol level of 0.11.
