Brookfield Man Busted for Early Morning Burglary

Business owner monitoring remote cameras spotted two people in the gas station after receiving a burglary alarm.

A 29-year-old Brookfield man was caught in the act when he was burglarizing a Waukesha gas station, according to the Waukesha Police Department.

A business owner thought the burglary alert at the Hop It Market, 1610 Lincoln Ave., was just a false alarm at 4 a.m. Wednesday. But when he checked the gas station’s cameras remotely, he saw two people inside.

The Waukesha Police Department set up a perimeter at the business with the assistance of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department as well as the Waukesha County Regional Bearcat, which is an armored rescue vehicle, according to a news release from Capt. Ron Oremus.
