Brookfield Man Caught With Heroin in Milwaukee
Suspect says a woman gave him the drugs in exchange for a ride.
A Brookfield man is facing charges after he allegedly was caught with heroin in a car in Milwaukee.
Jim Schmitt, 28, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of possession of narcotic drugs. If convicted, he faces up to 3 Β½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On March 6, Schmitt was a passenger in a car in the 1000 block of South 22nd Street when it was pulled over by a Milwaukee police officer, who noticed a syringe and a "burn cup" in the passenger side door. The car was searched and police found heroin, a cap gun, a crack cocaine pipe and an open can of beer.
Schmitt admitted to owning the heroin, saying a female who also was in the car gave him the drugs in exchange for a ride.

He will make an initial appearance in court June 19.
