A Brookfield police officer saw Miller on Aug. 12 with a laptop computer, compound bow and canvas case full of power tools. The officer had seen Miller earlier that day without the items, so she asked him where he got the items.
Miller gave vague answers and in his bag there was an ID for another man with an address in the 1400 block of Coachlight Drive. Miller initially said the items were his. But police contacted the Coachlight Drive man who said the items had been stolen out of a basement storage locker.
