Brookfield Man Sped Up to 120 mph in Chase, Crash

The driver who fled a traffic stop near I-94 and Moorland Road was a 21-year-old Brookfield man, sheriff's officials say.

A 21-year-old Brookfield man led sheriff's deputies on a chase that reached speeds of 120 mph before he crashed in West Allis and was arrested after fleeing on foot.

According to the Waukesha County sheriff's department:

Deputies tried to stop a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL that was speeding more than 90 mph on eastbound I-94 at Calhoun Road just after 2 a.m. Friday.

The car did not pull over and instead sped up, racing as fast as 120 mph before exiting at Moorland Road. The car drove through a red light, headed south, blew another red and headed east on Greenfield Avenue.

The driver tried to go onto I-894 but lost control, hit an electrical box and drove through a fence, coming to a stop in a business parking lot at 9733 W. Greenfield Ave. The car's air bag inflated and the driver got out and ran.

West Allis police, Milwaukee County sheriff deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol officers searched for the driver, using K-9 Units.Β  Waukesha County Sheriff Department K-9 β€œGordy” found the driver near 9047 W. Greenfield Ave. and he was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence.

Officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the Acura.

The Brookfield man had minor cuts to his face and was taken to Froedtert Memorial Hospital.
