Brookfield Man Tried Jumping out of Car on Freeway

Suspect allegedly tried to exit a vehicle on U.S. 45 while highly intoxicated because he didn't want to go to a hospital.

A Brookfield man is facing disorderly conduct charges after he was arrested in April with a blood-alcohol concentration more than three times the state's legal limit.

Michael J. Franzini, 19, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of disorderly conduct for allegedly becoming belligerent with his mother and medical officials.

Franzini’s mother picked him up near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus on April 27 because she was worried that he sounded very intoxicated on the phone and he might not make it home on the bus.

While riding home, Franzini objected to his mother taking him to a hospital and tried opening the door to get out while they were traveling on U.S. Highway 45.

After the car exited the highway in Elm Grove, Franzini eventually got out of the car and ran for a short distance until he fell down.

Franzini was combative with medical staff who arrived at the scene, and he told officers he had been drinking and took Valium, Prozac and Oxycodone earlier in the day.

A blood-alcohol test administered at the scene showed Franzini’s blood-alcohol concentration was 0.271, but another test administered at Waukesha Memorial Hospital detected a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.37.
