Brookfield Woman Charged with 4th OWI

Charges allege driver tried to avoid police by pulling into someone else's driveway while a squad car was following her.

A Brookfield woman is facing her fourth operating while intoxicated charge after she allegedly drove drunk from a bar and tried to avoid police by pulling into a driveway close to her home.

According to the criminal complaint, a man called police about 5:30 p.m. Friday to say a woman who appeared to be intoxicated was leaving Sluggo's Bar with another man and driving away. Police caught up with the van, driven by Pamela Ball, 53, and followed it on Lilly Road.

Ball pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 3700 block of Lilly Road and the officer continued driving northbound, but noticed her back out of the driveway and then drive northbound. The officer stopped the van, which had no front license plate.

Ball told the officer she had two Bloody Marys at the bar and was taking several prescription medications, according to the criminal complaint.

Ball was previously convicted of OWI in 1997, 2005 and 2006, the complaint said. She was charged Monday with fourth offense OWI within five years.
