Home Burglary Suspect Nabbed by Police

As Shorewood braces in the wake of eight home burglaries over a few weeks, authorities say they have suspect in custody after a recent burglary.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old Milwaukee man in connection with a burglary on Monday.

The neighbor of a condo owner in the 4000 block of North Downer Avenue phoned police to report suspicious activity. Based on a description provided, police were able to apprehend the suspect.

Police say the suspect had a knife, they believe he used to pry open a common door to the condo building, and had property from the residence on the block.

The burglary marks the ninth since Sept. 27 in Shorewood. Homes on the east side of Milwaukee, Whitefish Bay and Fox Point have been targeted as well.

It’s unclear whether the suspect is connected to other burglaries.

I do have a front and back light....HOWEVER...if the lighting was better...it would help. I also keep all doors and windows locked...and I have a dog...may buy a gun...

How will having brighter streetlights help, really? Streetlights are for helping people walking on the sidewalks to see their way--they should have nothing to do with the security of your home--particularly on the side of your house that isn't facing the street.

you are right....however...criminals need to walk to a home to break in...hence...more lighting might make them more visible. Better lighting can't hurt...and it may help.....do you have a problem w/ better lighting (switching out the thick globe glass on the street lights)???????????

If it is going to increase my taxes and provide little to no value in return, I guess I have a problem with it. There are a lot better ways to be spending our tax dollars...

Personally, I think the street lights are for ambiance only. As an avid night walker they do nothing for me, I do plenty of tripping and in the winter with ice, forget it. Someone can be practically on top of me before I see them and half of them are on the blink anyway.
