Two Fires Each Cause About $1,000 in Damage

Brookfield firefighters quickly extinguished two recent house fires, one caused by a tipped lamp.

A clothes dryer and tipped lamp caused separate fires each with $1,000 damage, Brookfield firefighters said.

Fire crews were called to 4720 Imperial Drive about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a fire in a clothes dryer. The fire, which produced heavy smoke in the basement, was controlled in about 10 minutes, according to the Fire Department.

About 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters were called to a condominium at 20155 Independence Drive that was being evacuated. A lamp had tipped over in a second-floor bedroom, landing on some clothes that caught fire.
